Question: Actor/Actress question: In order to become an actor is it required that one take theater and drama!?

Do agents, directors and the "higher ups" require an actor to have a college education before one is considered for a role!? One last thing, Experience working in playhouses, is that considered!? Thanks so muchWww@QuestionHome@Com

schooling is a big help, continued coaching is important to stay sharp and eliminate bad habits that can accumulate without realizing it!. the best thing you can do is keep acting and auditioning, getting paid parts in speaking featured and character roles!. especially lead roles in theater +/or film, getting a video of your work and a resume of paid "pro" work, to add to your head shot, when submitting for agent/agency representation, they need to know you are marketable and your " type " to find auditions for fitting roles that you can audition for!. they can find you an audition opportunity, you have to audition and get selected by a casting agent or casting director!. the more opportunities you work at ,can hone your stage skills and acting craft!. the world of film is different!. you no longer play to the back of the house, in film you are next to your audience who can see every detail, movement, nuance ,and emotional subtlties you express!.!. schools can help you learn to do both!. performing and coaching go hand in hand to mold and sharpen your talent and skills!. check out sites like backstage!.com, the actors voice, 411ny, 411la!. your states film commission on productions, check out sag!.com, aftra!.com, aea!.com for additional information!.!. remember to treat yourself and your acting career as a business, and stay focused!. good luck and keep acting!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Experience is always good and it helps if you have been to an acting school of some kind!.
also there is no harm in having a college education but you can always try even if you don't have one :)
