Question: High School Play Audition Songs!?
I'm a girl auditioning for the school musical (Thoroughly Modern Millie) and my range is around lower soprano to high tenor, most comfortable in alto!. The song has to be from a Broadway musical!. Suggestions!? (Personally looking at "I Know Things Now" from Into The Woods)

Musicals I'm familiar with (in no order): Into The Woods, Sweeney Todd, RENT, Moulin Rouge, Phantom Of The Opera, West Side Story, and Across The Universe!.

(I'm pretty sure the latter was never on Broadway- I'd have to ask if it's available)Www@QuestionHome@Com

"I'm Not That Girl" from WICKED is a great choice for Tennorettes who can still sing second soprano, so you can show off your range singing that!. I would also go with an up-tempo song from a more recent musical, given that the play is Thoroughly Modern Millie!. "America" from West Side Story is a fun one (just don't over do it by trying to put in an accent)!. And the second verse of "Out Tonight" would be a great choice if you make the performance fun and exciting (the first verse may not be appropriate for a high school audition!.)

GOOD LUCK! HOPE YOU GET THE PART!Www@QuestionHome@Com

1) What does the director want!? A song from the show, or one that is not from the show, or does it matter!? Some directors are particular about this!.

2) Find a song in the style and range of the character you are auditioning for!.

3) Make sure the song shows you off, without you having to strain yourself as either too low or too high!. Nothing is worse than not being able to hit the notes at an audition!. Remember, you only have a minute to present the best "YOU" you can!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I was just in Millie!! I love that show!.

Can you belt!? If so, go for Millie of Muzzy!. Good belting songs that show range are "Look At Me Now" and "Life Of The Party" from Andrew Lippa's Wild Party!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
