Yes there are more opportunities and it's hard to say whether they will increase or decrease!. In order to sustain a career an actor must build their marketability!. This means routinely being in films that do well in the marketplace and to be one of the driving forces behind its success!. For Asian American actors, they face competition from homeland Asian actors like Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Ziyi Zhang (Crouching Tiger), Chow Yun Fat!. The advantage native Asians have is they are often stars in their home countries with box office track records so producers in the states who bring them in know they can count on robust licensing fees in the international markets with their names!. This is often not the case with Asian American actors!.

It will be interesting to see how this all shakes out over the next ten years!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I am noticing more opportunities for Asians still not that many!. We've got more opportunities than the 70's and 80's!. But compared to other minority groups our numbers are pretty pathetic!.

But to be honest with you, I have no idea whether or not there will be more Asian opportunities in Hollywood!. And as for your question about Lucy Lui, there are definitely more actresses who are better looking and can act just as well if not better than her!. But Hollywood and the media being what it is, this is just a run of the mill kind of thing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hollywood has always offered asians opportunities, unfortunately those opportunities have been in the disguise as the typical token asian guy or over sexually charged chasing the white guy around prostitute or the studious nerd, or kung-fu master(male/female) or Dragon lady or villain or mercenary business man, or the ever more popular Villain!.

Most of these characters are typical cliche's and have very little personally growth in hollywood movies!. Most have limited to no lines other than filling there bland mundane roles to entertain the audience!.

Hollywood is also renown for their horrible asian horror and asian entertainment remakes!. It's an insult to americans basically saying that we can't full grasp the complexity of other cultures without an american face on it!. Most of these remakes take out the leading asian casts and replace them with american casts!. Some will keep the asian female only to perputuate the stereotype that asian women are doomed without their white savior!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have to say, there are definitely more opportunities for us - especially now days a lot of the productions are required to have a certain percentage of minorities being represented on set!. Plus with the economy, every show are trying their best to attract more viewers!.!.!. They have to make the show more appealing to anyone and everything - which means, to include more diversed cast!.

As far as the type of roles!.!.!.!. There's still have quite limited of Leading Roles available for Asian-talent specifically!. With shows like Heroes, Lost, Night Ryder (the new one)!.!.!. You see more Asian Talents with supporting/principal roles!.!.!. That's definately a 'step-up' compare to the late 80s / early 90s!.

Only time will tell how the media will change in the future!.

PS!. There *are* a lot of Asian Actresses working in Hollywood - its just that you haven't seen them on mainstream media with strong roles!.!.!.!. yet!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

NO, you should know that Hollywood and MTV had alway put Asian people (epecially Asian men) in bad lights!. They had put Asian people down and they will alway put Asian people down!. Why would they want to offer Asian actors any opportunity !?Www@QuestionHome@Com

As long as I can watch asian movies ( which i do!.!.and they are not Hollywood made) then i really dont care what hollywood does!. besides!.!.!.Its not like hollywood could make the movies and stuff any better!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
