Question: I need a published female musical theater piece for a competition!!?
It has to be under 5 minutes, and completely solo!. Preferably with easy to find music without background vocals!. I'm performing it for a high school district competition!. I'm turning 15 in three weeks and a freshman!. I'm most comfortable in an alto range, although I can sing soprano (though some notes would have to be falsetto), and it can't be from Wicked!.( :-( ) I've been looking at Strongest Suit from Aida (though probably not going to happen because of the background vocals) and Out Tonight from Rent!. Any suggestions!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Stranger to the Rain - Children of Eden - Belt
I Guess I'll Miss the Man - Pippin - Quiet / Slow
Somewhere That's Green - Little Shop of Horrors - Not "Great" Choice
Fine, Fine Line - Avenue Q - May require "Kate Monster" Voice
Spark of Creation - Children of Eden - A little unknown!.!.!.
Simple Joys (Transposed for Female) - Pippin - must be transposed
We're Okay - Rent - May be inappropriate, Comedic

I think Stranger to the Rain is Best!. Look it up!. It's REALLY good!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Do not do any of those songs that you were thinking of!. They're waaay too overdone!. Go for something that's a little less known and will make you stand out!.

Being Good Isn't Good Enough - Hallelujah, Baby!
Here I Am - Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Willing to Ride - Steel Pier
A Little Brains, A Little Talent - Damn Yankees

Best of luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com
