Question: I play flute but want to play a deep sounding wind instrument any suggestions please!?
I have been re teaching myself Flute over the last few months ( I had lessons when younger ) and have finally learned how to read music, my problem is that I don't like the high range of the flute!. I love the mid range notes but there is limited music for this range and I am frustrated that most flute music is written for the higher ranges, I've been learning phantom of the opera and this is mostly high!. The ability to play the instrument softly would also be an advantage!.

I need some suggestions on which instrument I should take up instead of flute!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I play alto saxaphone!. It's a wood wind and I think the fingering is very similar to that of the flute!. The tone of the notes are mid range and if you want to go even even lower you could always switch over to tenor sax, which is identical to the alto but just bigger and deeper!. It's a very cool instrument and very fun to play!. Good Luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Perhaps you should try the bass flute, but only if you are willing to spend a lot of money!.!.!.
Clarinet would be a really good option, because I feel that it gives much more dynamic control than other wind instruments (I've played clarinet for eight years) and is suitable for many styles of music!. It has a really broad range and, if you practice a lot, can have a really beautiful tone!.!.!.
Whatever instrument you decide on, I wish you luck! Have fun!Www@QuestionHome@Com
