There really is no one way to 'cry on cue'!. The worst thing you could possible do is fake the emotion and pretend to cry, but that tends not to win an audience over!.

I would start looking into different acting methods!. Teachers like Lee Strasberg, Sanford Meisner, Constantin Stanislavski, Uta Hagen, and David Mamet have authored some of the more well-known acting mehods!.

Basically, a acting method is just that: a way to reveal a character through a tried-and-true method that will work consistently night after night!. It takes a lot of work and it's even difficult for some professional actors!.

I would suggest the Meisner method!. That was the method I am currently being trained in and I believe it's the most accessible of all the methods available!. There's a really great, four-book series by Larry Silverberg called 'The Sanford Meisner Approach'!. I'll include it in my source section!.

LIke I said before, it does require a lot of work!. No matter which method you choose you're never going to be able to find the correct emotional place right away!. It requires a lot of work, but if you're truly serious about acting, I would definitely do some research on the methods I listed above!. In the meantime, I would definitely recommend Mr!. Silverberg's series!. I learned from this series and the work pays off big time!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you are on stage, the audience cannot really tell if water comes from your eyes!. The important thing is to act the part of someone who is crying in such a way as the audience recognises what you are doing and understands it!.

Watch people you know, or films of people, and see what crying looks like, then try to feel the sort of sadness that makes you want to cry!.

Think about the things that make you unhappy, and adjust your posture and movements to reflect what you feel inside, so that for someone in the audience, they will recognise that you are crying!.

Here's the recipe i've used:

First - I use a personal circumstance in my life that makes me cry!. Ie, someone dying, a bad breakup, a personal loss, etc!.

Second - Once you have this memory, its going to take a while for these emotions to grip you!. Especially if this is for a show!.!.!. you're going to have a lot of things distract you!. Actors, costume, audience, etc!.
Find a quiet place to reflect about 20 or so minutes before you're to be on stage!. Dredge up these emotions!. Think about it!. Go back in your mind to when it happened!. Bring the tears from that day back!.
If you're not supposed to cry until the end of the play, thats ok!. Just remember these emotions you're pulling up and have it at the ready!.
also during this time, dwell on your character!. What makes this character cry!? Use your emotions from your past memory and combine it with your character you're playing!. Become that character in your mind!. If you do this, when you go on stage, it'll be a natural outpouring!. But you have to really do this!. Experience your characters emotinos throughout the play!. IE, don't just act like you're mad!. BECOME mad, etc!. Then, it'll be easy for you!

There are other ways to cry - this is just one method, but this is what I like to do the best!.

Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

fake it!. sound like you're sobbing and look like you're sobbing, because the truth of the matter is!.!.!. the audience wont be able to tell!. they are too far away from the stage to see if you are really crying or not!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Soak a handkerchief in onion juice, dab it on your eyes!
