Hi, I'm thirteen and I want to become an actor for shows like iCarly, Drake and Josh, etc!. But, I don't know how!. If you can tell me how some other people started acting that would be great!. Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Well first off, if you REALLY want to do television acting on a professional level, you need to have a professional mindset!. Casting directors want to know how good and committed you are to your talent and how dedicated you will be!. So if you have that attitude, then take my following advice: 1!.) Enroll yourself into acting classes!. You can do theatre in school to start out, but if it's film/tv that you want to get into, look into acting coaches or private classes!. Once you're in a class, harness and develop your talent!. 2!.) Start auditioning for plays, student films, etc!. Don't worry about being rejected either, it happens to every actor!. Just keep up with your auditions and gain as much experience necessary!. 3!.) Make a resume and get some headshots!. Resumes are easy to make, just list your name, union affiliation, phone number, email, basic physical description (hair & eye color, height and weight), your experience, your training, and any other talents or skills you may have (riding a bike, juggling, singing, accents, rides motorcycle, etc)!. For headshots, hire a photographer who specializes in headshots and will walk you through it!. 4!.) Submit yourself to agencies!. For minors, you'll need to have a work permit ready, so if you don't have one, you'll need to get one when you are signed on with an agent!. Send in your resume, headshot, and a cover letter to any agency listed on SAG!.org!. If an agency wants money from you (they'll say different stories why you should pay like "it's for better headshots" or something like that), do NOT sign on with them!. Agents get their money by earning a percentage of whatever you make when you get hired for a movie, TV series, play, etc!. ANY agency who says otherwise is a FRAUD!. So steer clear from them! There are a lot of other things you should know, but these are the just basics!. As an actor, you need to be talented, professional, and you need to know how to network yourself!. Don't put your hopes into blind luck, like expecting someday a producer will walk by and declare you the star of his/her next blockbuster hit!. I will guarantee you that will NEVER happen!. That is the wrong thing for anyone who wants to start off becoming an actor to do!. If you start going out on auditions as an amateur and without any proper education or classes with the right teacher, you will make a bad impression on the casting directors that see you, and they won't want to see you again!. The thing about casting directors is that they don't forget! You give a bad performance, and they won't call you in for another audition with them!. If you want to become an actor, create a 2 year plan for yourself of all the classes you will take within those 2 years!. Whether 2 years seem like a long time or not, you've got to do it!. This 2 year plan will allow you to see the real world of an actor and test you to see if you truly want to become an actor!. Instead of wasting time and money on headshots and auditioning, see if it is really cut out for you by creating a plan!. Becoming an actor is not an easy thing to do at all!. You need the passion, love, and dedication for it!. Furthermore, you need to know yourself inside in out and appreciate all that you've got!. You definitely need to start in theater first!. School theater is a good start, then community theater!. You will be noted in reviews and agents may contact you from there!. That is how I ended up in the movie!. It is a lot of work, but unlike the theater, you can reshoot the clip over and over again!. Schooling is also provided!. The more that is on your resume, the more impressive it looks!. also, don't get discouraged with small parts, like an extra or small guest star part, because somebody will notice and may have an idea for you!. Brad Pitt started as a guest star on 21 Jumpstreet, a show from the 80's!. He had three or four lines, but that was how he got started!. Johnny Depp was also on that show!. Nickelodeon can not recommend or refer you to an agency, but find one that is right for you and let them know what your interests are!. Talent agencies are regularly alerted to open calls and auditions through industry publications and alert systems!. I am here to tell you, it is nt as easy as it seems!. it is VERY time consuming, and costs alot!. i!.e headshots, school!.
