A soliloquy is a speech made by a character who is alone on stage, or is talking to himself/herself as if alone!. Shylock has such a speech in Act One, Scene 3, a short speech starting at line 41!. Portia's suitors have such speeches as they choose among the three caskets -- Morocco in Act 2, Scene 7, starting at line 13; Arragon in Act 2, Scene 9, starting at line 19; Bassanio in Act 3, Scene 2, starting at line 73!.

The play also features some famous monologues, speeches delivered by characters who are not speaking to themselves alone!. Portia's speech in Act 4, Scne 1, starting at line 184, is one example!. Another is Shylock's speech in Act 3, Scene 1, starting at line 53!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
