Question: How to become a movie extra in TORONTO!? need legit sites/agencies!!?
I don't want to become an actor or anything,I don't have any experience but I just thought being an extra would be really cool since they can be behind the scenes and get paid for it!. I've been looking around on google and I'm not quite sure which agencies are real or just plain scams!.
Does anyone have any good experiences with agencies in becoming in extra in Toronto,Canada!? If so, which ones!?

How much is paid in advance or if any money is paid in advance at all!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Reputable agencies never charge in advance!. I have heard that some BG agencies are now charging a very small adminstration fee to cover expenses when you first join the agenciy, but I don't think it's common practice!.

Apparently Melissa Lee, Extraordinary, and Frenchie are very reputable, and work on many of the big projects!.

My best advice is to go to the ACTRA Toronto website (ACTRA is the actor's union) and read their information about BG work, getting into the business and agencies!. They have a list of reputable agencies on the site!.

BG work can be fun, but there's a lot of sitting around!. You will find that there is a huge difference in the treatment of the BG actors, and the principal performers!. I highly recommend working on union sets, because the conditions are so much better!.

Good luck!

To get on an extras casting agency's books you should expect to put out about $35, give or take $10-$15!. It isn't difficult!. You will not be paid in advance, only once you complete the work and the company decides to actually issue the check(it can take a while)!. Do not go with an online one, just open up a phone book to see if there are any local to you(in a city the size of Toronto there should be at least 1)!. Extra work you are expected to be on time and stay quiet and not speak to anyone unless spoken to, except the 2nd Assistant Director when you check in!. Extras are not behind the scenes, they are on camera!. Behind the scenes is the production crew, producers, directors, and writers!. also, acting doesn't require experience to break into, but you would need Acting classes, and you can get experience with community theater and in student films and work up from there!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
