Question: How do you build a carriage!?
Hi all- I am directing Rodger's and Hammerstein's Cinderella and I need some ideas (other than the cheezy painted cut-out front) for the carriage, It will be housed on an 8 X 4' platform (w/ casters)!. I really just need some suggestions on materials to use to create a stable shape of a pumpkin!. My husband suggested 2" PVC pipe to arch across the top!. Any thoughts on that!? We have a limited budget so please keep ideas relatively basic if possible!. Thanks in advance!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'd suggest taking his suggestion for the PVC, and follow it with a drapery of cheesecloth or muslin (depending on how opaque you want it) spray-painted the appropriate color(s)!.

Alternatively, you can get 10 gauge wire or fencing material (roughly the same as found in rectangular-mesh animal fencing - not chicken wire) from a hardware store, and bend it easily into the shape you need!.

The wire/fencing will be more expensive, but easier to shape into what you want it to be!. The wire will also be more stable than the PVC, unless you also brace the PVC with something else!.

For either option, I wouldn't put anything thicker than a single layer of cloth over it - they aren't going to support weight well at all!.

Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com
