Question: Who is Nancy talking to!? (from Oliver Twist)!?
please please help me! i have an audition on Tuesday and cant find out how Nancy is saying this or who she is talking to!

"Tell me!. Were you ever cold!? Were you ever hungry!? Or terrified of your drunken father!? That was my life from the moment I can remember!. When women like me, with no fixed address but the coffin, set her heart on any man, however cruel or stupid, you won't cure us of feelings we were born with!. They may hit us, they may lie and cheat but when you've got nothing, lady, you cling to whatever you find"

Thanks! If you could give me a link to where i could watch her say it, that would be awesome! Www@QuestionHome@Com

Man, what awesome lines!

I so loved that story - the movie, the book!. I don't recognize the words, though!. She does say "lady" towards the end, so she's speaking to someone female!. Other than Bet, I can't think of anyone else female that Nancy speaks to, and she wouldn't need to say that stuff to Bet!. Maybe she talks to a servant in Oliver's great uncle's house!. Actually, I think that might be it!. I have this picture in my mind of them standing on the stairs in the townhouse and the servant wants Nancy to go away and Nancy is desperately trying to get her message through!.

If that's it, then she's defending herself!. The maid probably treats her like she's dirt and wouldn't trust her!. So she's probably speaking vehemently and a little angrily, to explain why she made the choices she did!. She's probably in a rush, too, because she'd only be there to deliver a message and would have to get back!. So all this would be said heatedly and fast (though not so fast as to not be understood by your audience)!.

Sorry, if there even are any online versions of Oliver available, I wouldn't know where to find them!. If you can get to your public library tomorrow, they might have it on DVD or tape!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
