Question: I am able to act like any character out there does this mean I am going to be a good actor!?

Or is my sister right that im going to have to be able to create my own character to be a good actor!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I guess it depends what you mean!. Do you just watch someone on TV and are capable of mimicking they way they are acting!? Or, like could I describe a character to you and you could act with the mannerisms or moods that I explain!?

Acting is all about reading your lines/part and understanding what your character is thinking/feeling/etc!. So, when you get a part, you read through the script and try to determine what this person is like and how they would act!. Then, often times your director will give you specific notes or points about how THEY want the character to act!. In acting, you strive to lose yourself!. You don't want to be playing an actor playing your role!. You just want to be your role!.

So, you don't necessarily need to "create" your own character!. You just need to have enough insight to understand what kind of personality your character would have based on their lines and situations!.

Try getting into community theater!. Look around for local theaters and ask about auditions!. Just be in a few plays to see how you do and how you like it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
