Question: Death of a Salesman - why does willy obviously contradict himself!?!? what does this show/do for the audience!?
e!.g!. when he says "biff is a lazy bum" then on the next page "if theres one thing about biff, hes not lazy"
why does Arthur Miller make willy say this - what does it say about his character and contribute to themes etc!?!?
Thanks heaps!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I read the book a long time ago but if I remember right it is because willy doens't really live in the present!. The majority of the things he talks about are things that happened long ago!. Willy lives in the past and that is why he contradicts himself he doesn't pay attention to what is going on now!.

It is a very good bookWww@QuestionHome@Com
