Question: Help me pick a monologue!?
I'm auditioning for "Much Ado About Nothing" (Shakespeare, in case you live under a rock) and have narrowed it down to three monologues:

http://www!.mirroruptonature!.com/shakespe!.!.!.

or

http://www!.mirroruptonature!.com/shakespe!.!.!.

or

http://www!.mirroruptonature!.com/shakespe!.!.!.

My monologue needs to be between 45 seconds and a minute, from a comedy, and appropriate!. I am a teen girl, 5'8, blonde and I have experience with Shakespearean dialouge!. (I work at a Renaissance fair every summer)!. I'm auditioning for Beatrice or Hero (or any female part with lines, haha) and really need something to stand out!. I know my drama teacher is going to get a million Midsummer Night's Dream monologues (the local middle school put it on last May) so nothing from there!.

If you have any other ideas, that'd be great too! Thank you!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I definitely agree with the last guy, on NOT using anything shakespearean to audition! But i'll also say that you should NOT use books found at a story like B&N when looking for monologues!. That's where everyone goes!. I have had many drama teachers suggest doing search on your own, and discourage using such books filled with "100 best monologues" etc, etc!.!.!. Those are the monologues that everyone is going to perform!.

Here is a really really good one:
It's from Bamboozled, which is a Comedia del' Arte show!. It's Italian commedy!. The character's name is Columbine (Col-um-bee-nuh)!.
I played Columbine in a show this last summer!. She is a girl about to turn 16!. She is supposed to be very pretty (as all the men in the comedia plays want to marry her) and is vain!.!.!.but without really knowing it!.
This monologue is very, very funny, and is SO much fun to perform!. Columbine was the best role that i have ever played, absolutely my favorite role!.
Here is the monologue!. She has several, look into more if them if you're interested!.

"Yes!. You're right!. I am beautiful!. Art and nature have blissfully united in my radiant countenance!. Look oat my hair!. It was a gift from the sun!. My complexion is as flawless and translucent as Papal statuary-- and my eyes, my eyes outtwinkle the brightest stars of the Milky Way!.I have grace and beauty to rival a greek myth and!. if i have one tine imperfection it is an excessive modesty which cannot, truly, be considered a flaw but, rather, the outward indication or an exquisite inner harmony or mind and spirit!. In short, i am the envied rival of the rose and truly blessed to know it!."

Here is another one: (a little shorter too)

"I should tell you that i am waiting for my lover!.I am waiting for my lover!. His name is!.!.!. Leandro!!.!.!.!.!.Leandro! Birds sing and roses bloom at the mere mention of his name!. His beauty is !. !. !. Olympian, and when he miles it is the sun at noon!. All who gaze upon his magnificent presence are given at oce to sighing !. !. !. and sometimes drooling!. He has the heart of a lion, the strength of a bull and the disposition of a loving and playful puppy!. he is, unfortunately, a bit stupid!. But it would be foolish to demand a perfection likened to my own!. It is enough that he is beautiful in the extreme and uncompromisingly devoted !. !. !. to me!"

I like the second one better actually!. It's really fun!. It's funnier also when done with an Italian accent!.

Hope this was helpful!Www@QuestionHome@Com

stand out by not doing shake spear!. I realize it is a shake spear play!. I would get a monologue book and do something else !. Barnes and Nobles has a small theater section with a ton of monologues!. Besides I can tell a shake spear trained actor a mile away!.

It's the way they talk and hold themselves

You need something that has range and shows you!.
