Question: What to expect at a modeling audition!?
My best friend Jacie is going to one this Monday!. She's a perfect candidate I always thought!. She's 5'6"-5'7", naturally thin, and Asian, so she's beauitful!. But she called me and told me all of this, so now I'm wondering, what to expect at a modeling audition!? I'm curious!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

From your question it would seem she's not a model yet, just going to some agency to see if she has whatever it takes to try and get a foot in the door!. Whether or not someone is beautiful is subjective and beautiful people don't necessarily make good models!. 5'6, 5'7 is also on the short side, in NYC the 15 year olds coming into the city each year seem to start at 5'9 or 5'10!.

Without knowing the specifics, the "agency" is probably going to look at her, maybe take some quick photos to see if she's actually photogenic!. If it's a "scam" agency, no matter how unlikely a model or un photogenic she is they will "sell" her a package "guaranteed" to get her started as a model!. They will kick her out to some photographer who is also in on the scam as he gives a kick back to the agency for all the "talent" they send him to shoot!. Then they will sell her classes on how to be a model and all that nonsense!.

First of all, please do a research on the agency!. There are two websites that you can visit:

http://www!.easybackgroundcheck!.com
http://www!.modelingscams!.org

LIke what was mentioned by above, unless she's going for Print/Commercial Modeling at the agency, she seems a bit short for the Industry Standard!. Remember to tell her to a pair of Heels!.

Here are what some of the things to be expect at the audition:

1) If it's an open call, prepare for a long wait!.

2) snaps taking in front of a photographer!. make sure you follow directions!. (face forward, turn, and turn the other way, etc) ***Remember, there shouldn't be any charges to this!.***

3) If she's already been doing modeling, make sure she brings her modeling book (portfolio) - agents would like to see them at the audition!. If not, a compcard!.

That's pretty much it!. Tell your friends do not agree on signing any contacts or anything at the audition!. (If the agent is interested) Give yourself more time thing about it!. If a contract is over, ready EVERY SINGLE WORDS and make sure you fully understand what you and the agency is entitled to!. If you have questions, ask!. Or ask for a copy and bring it home, review it with family members!.

If the Agency offers Classes, or make recommendation of going to a Photographer for "professional pictures!." Just tell them "Let me think about it!." and walk out!.

Just remember that you do not need to PAY to register with a modeling agency!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I went with my friend to one once!.
She had to tell them some things about herself and then they had her read a commercial!. They liked her and had her come back the next day to read another commercial!. (this had NOTHING to do with modeling!.!.!.) then they wanted her to go to Toronto for a wweekend for workshops!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
