Question: Any tips on how to act better!?
I can memorize lines, but I can't bring them to life!. I don't want to be an Oscar winner, I just want to pass my drama class!. How do I get into a scene and say the words like I mean it and not like I'm reading from a script!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Anthony Hopkins said it best !.!.!. Know the text, it's one thing to learn lines but you need to dig deeper!. Why is your character saying this, what are the other people saying!. Understanding the beats of the text!.

This is something that comes with a lot of practice!. The ability to make the text seem like it's the first time you have ever said it!.

It's a skill!.!.!.!.

My suggestion is read aloud for everything, read a story book to elementary students!. Then after a while you will start to put your personal touches on it and that is call acting

first you need to memorise the script really well!.
once you've memorised it from heart, practice it at home in front of the mirror!. This helps so you can see yourself doing it, and see what improvements you can make!.

think about how the character is feeling and put yourself in their shoes!. use hand gestures!. this helps too!.

put in pauses, facial expressions and enthusiasm in your language!.
