Question: Arsenic and Old Lace cast problems!?
I am a rookie in my high school theatre with the part of Mr!. Witherspoon in "Arsenic and Old Lace!." Almost all of the rest of the cast hates me for some reason!. The seniors that play Abby and Martha say that i'm a talentless idiot!. I have one friend in the cast, the kid who plays Teddy!. Everyone at rehearsal today said the only reason i got a part was because i match the description of my character (fat)!. I feel really out of place and don't even want to do the show anymore!. I dread going to rehearsal every day!. I thought I found the one place i belong and now it's apparent that it's not my place!. If anyone could help, I would appreciate it very muchWww@QuestionHome@Com

The reason I do what I do and keep pushing that stone up the hill is because someone told me once I was a no talent hack and I would never make it!.

They told Michael Jordan the same thing,
and every other actor on the planet was told the same thing!.

The reason why I do what I do if to tell that one person I told you so!. Your actions speak louder then words, if this is where you want to be then don't let idiots like that tell you differently!.

It a high school theater everyone has to start out at the beginning!. I don't have to watch the show to let you know that the leads are idiots and probably don't have much more talent!.

Dont quit bro cause if you do then they have won!. Work the script learn the lines and steal the show!.!.!.!. BTW if anyone can steal the show it's Mr Wither spoon!.!.!. Great Show

they are just jealous, don't ever let them affect you and your feelings!. they say that stuff because they wanted the part and they are jerks!. Type casting happens ALOT, it shouldn't be so new to them!. juts be proud of who you are and what you got, don't listen to those prima donnasWww@QuestionHome@Com

Don't be silly!.Take advantage of the opportunity to do your part as best you can as you are an integral part of the production!.All the best!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Dude!.!.!.I know this sounds cliche, but they're probably just jealous that a newer kid kid like you got such an important role!. I know it's tough, but ignore them!. Act like you don't care!. Be the best actor that you can be and blow them all away opening night!. You go to those rehearsals for a reason: You are a part of a play!. You need to be there, they need you (whether they recognize that or not!.) The other cast members may be playing their parts on the stage, but they're not playing their parts as human beings on a collaborative project!.
NOT A SINGLE PERSON, NOT EVEN WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE, CAN PRESENT A THEATRICAL WORK OF ART ALONE!. You all are parts of a team, and by bullying a team member, they're an insult to the world of theatre!.
I'm sad to say that there's really not a way to stop these people from giving you a hard time, but as said earlier: do your best and prove to the world how talented you really are!. Whatever you do, DON'T GIVE UP!. If you are devoted, in the end it will all be worth it!. Devotion goes a long way, and that's all that matters in the long run!.
Break a leg opening night =) [Arsenic and Old Lace is one of my favorite plays in the world!!]Www@QuestionHome@Com
