Question: Where is best to sit at a theatre and how should I dress!?
I'm taking my girlfriend to London to see Phantom of the Opera in theatre as she adores the film and the music, but I've no kknowledge of theatres at all!. We're going early January as a christmas present, and will stay overnight so that we can shop the next day!.

Where is best to sit!? Is that a vague question!? Royal Circle sounds good, is it!?

Is the Show good!? Is there somewhere i can buy an all-inclusive package!? What should we wear!?!?

Answers to any of these will be appreciated :)

Premium Seats are £75 so I don't think i could afford that and the hotel, but Royal Circle & Stands are £55 which would put me at about £200 for train fare, tickets and hotel for one night, which is okay!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ok, as far as dress!.!.!. I'd suggest that considering this is a nice night out that you will probably want to do a dinner and show thing and dress up nice!.!.!. a suit, maybe a tie if you can stand them, but at least a nice dress shirt, black slacks, and a suit jacket!.!.!.

My suggestion for seating (being a theatre worker for 5+years now) is to find a seat that is right above the middle of the house!. maybe a little bit farther back with it being phantom (there is a couple of scenes that will be above you!.!.!. and looks cooler when your not right up front)!. The idea is the same as if you were in the movie theatre, if your too close you have to move around a lot!.!.!. to far, and you can't see as close as one would like!.!.!.

Although, Personally i like to sit in the front row of the upper balcony wherever I go!.!.!. It's a better view up there most of the time and you can still hear great!.!.!.

and as a note, the sound should be best in the middle of the audience, as a sound guy, I know that at the front things cannot be mixed right, even with good front fills!.!.!. and the rears normally sound entirely like speaker fills, even with a good eq!.!.!. I find the middle having the best mix with most engineers!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I've always enjoyed sitting in the first row of the mezzanine!. I feel that in the closer seats, the expensive ones, you don't get as full as an experience!.

I've been to several shows in London, unfortunately not Phantom yet, and have noticed that people tend to dress more for the theatre there then here in the US!. Just remember to turn your phone off!.

I prefer a few rows back in the stalls!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

This site includes a seating plan of the theatre where Phantom is playing!. The sound system in the theatre is probably an excellent one that will enable you to hear well from any seat in the house!. And the show's big effects are sure to look spectacular whether you're right down front close to the stage or further back!.

As for how to dress, you'll see many different levels of casualness and formality among your fellow theatre goers!. Some people get extra dressed up for an opening night, as if it were a wedding or an awards ceremony, but you'll be fine any night if you wear the sort of clothes you'd wear for a dinner date at a nice restaurant!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
