But how do i do it!? to register online you must already be a member!. But how do i become a member!? I read you have to be a part of some performers union first!. If so, what are reputable ones and how can i get involved in those!? is that even true!? it would help if you are a member and can give me real advice! but if you just know, that would be great too! thanks!Www@QuestionHome@Com
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: there are two ways to become a SAG member, 1!. get three SAG waivers doing background work and pay the initiation of 1400 bucks 2!. nab a speaking role on any Union project then you have 30 days to do as much as you can then after that you are a must join then you pay the 1400 buck Dues are every 4 months of about 70 bucks if you dont do anything and then if you are a star you pay up to 2500 per year in dues I am a proud member of SAG and Aftra SAG is the ultimate Union!.!.!. performers Unions include Aftra, once you have your aftra card after one year you can pay to be in SAG, once your in SAG you can immediately join Aftra http://www!.imdb!.com/name/nm1962531/Www@QuestionHome@Com From the SAG page!. A performer becomes eligible for Screen Actors Guild membership under one of the following two conditions: (1) proof of SAG employment or (2) employment under an affiliated performers’ union!. 1!. Proof of Employment * Principal Performer Employment Performers may join SAG upon proof of employment!. Employment must be in a principal or speaking role in a SAG film, videotape, television program or commercial!. Proof of such employment may be in the form of a signed contract, or original pay stubs!. The document proving employment must provide the following information: o applicant’s name o applicant’s Social Security number o name of the production or name of the commercial (product name) o the salary paid (in dollar amount) o the specific date(s) worked!. * Background Actors may join SAG upon proof of employment as a SAG–covered background player at full SAG rates and conditions for a MINIMUM of three work days subsequent to March 25, 1990!. Employment must be by a company signed to a SAG Agreement under which the Producer is required to cover background actors!. Proof of employment must be in the form of original paystubs or a payroll printout faxed from the payroll house!. Such documents must provide the same information (name, Social Security number, etc!.) as listed above!. 2!. Employment Under an Affiliated Performers' Union Performers may join SAG if the applicant is a paid-up member of an affiliated performers' union (ACTRA, AEA, AFTRA, AGMA or AGVA) for a period of one year and has worked and been paid for at least once as a principal performer in that union’s jurisdiction!.
