Other than the main storyline, which you can get online, I recommend you remember the various dramatic foils of Hamlet's character, that is, the other characters who exist in some dramatic contrast to Hamlet himself!. There is Claudius, who holds a similar political position as the heir of King Hamlet, he is contrasted with Hamlet in that he takes action and achieves success, the Danish throne, which should have gone to Hamlet!. There is also the character of Horatio, the only other character in the play to know Hamlet's thoughts and actions, privy to everything Hamlet is privy to, but his behavior is different in that he is not driven mad by the situation, as it can be argued, Hamlet is!. There is also Laerties, who, like Hamlet, avenges his father's death, but does so with more resolve than Hamlet, and does not hesitate but for the cousel of Claudius!. Both Hamlet and Laerties claimed to have loved Ophelia!. Finally, the relatively minor but pivotal character of Fortinbras, the Norwegian cousin of Hamlet who also demonstrates more resolve than Hamlet himself, and is granted the throne of Denamark at the plays closing!. also, the Ghost is real, not Hamlet's imagination!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
