Question: How much does it cost to get the rights for a play from the average theatre licensing company!?
Say I have a play and I wanted to license it out to theatre groups!. How much would I charge for them to put it on!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

It completely depends on the show!. Big scale musicals are going to cost far more than little known one acts!. Most companies charge a per show and a per script cost!. So if you're selling one copy of the script it might be $10 (I'm assuming a play, musical would again likely be more) and say for a one night run of the show (as a small scale play) $30!. Maybe they want to add another night so it's $20/$25 more!.

It depends on what you want to do with it, how much you think it's worth, ect!. Check out websites like SamuelFrench!.com and the Dramatists Inc!. Play Services for ideas on pricing, then you can compare what you're selling with other products!. Keep in mind, costs are higher when a play is first released that after years of being produced and also depends on the popularity of the play!. So you're probably better off going cheaper at first then raising price if it does well!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
