Writing it out in long hand helps - saying the words aloud v e r y
s l o w l y helps embed them!. Breaking the play into beats that you use to put the play together as in working with building blocks help if you know how to do that!. Believe it or not, simply doing it over and over and over again - repetition is most effective!. Best to you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

For short exchanges, listen to the other person!. If someone passes you and says "Hi, how are you!?" chances are good your response is going to be something along the lines of "Fine thanks, and you!?" Spend time memorizing so you know exactly what the playwright wants you to say, but uinless it's absurdist drama, conversation should flow naturally!. If you're in an argument, those are going to be the lines you've memorized that begin with things like "But !.!.!." or "However !.!.!." or Yes, but I don't thnk you're hearing me !.!.!." or "No, you're wrong!."

For memorizing long passages, write the speech on a blackboard or dry erase board or on paper IN PENCIL!. Say the speech, then erase a word!. Say the speech again, then erase another word!. Soon you'll be saying the speech to a blank piece of paper or chalkboard!. It does require some time and repetition but then, that's how a lot of memorization is accomplished!. People don't just look at a long speech once and have it memorized!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Get into the character!. Don't read the script yet (but in your case you have so it's not too big of a deal) and find out as much as you can about your character!. Get to know your character as if it's the other half of you!. If you're playing a!.!.!.rebellious teen who loves their music and hanging out with friends lock yourself in a room and listen to hardcore punk music!. Watch the way teens act and talk!. When you're in the character imagine that YOU ARE the character, imagine that what your saying is what you mean, like something you'd say without thinking!.
Good luck with the memorising!. Just have fun, get to know your character!. :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

First get to understand what's the story about as a whole!.

Than get to understand what the writer of the script wanted to express in the specific scenes!. So that you will have little 'Themed Chunks' that you can use as a 'Guide line'!.

You may think this is a load of Crap but the best way is to act it out over and over!. Once you've done it 34 times it'll stay in your head scientifically!. Worked for me!Www@QuestionHome@Com
