Absolutely!. When Mr!. Williams came along, no one had ever heard the kind of poetic imagery that he introduced!. It was shocking and stunning to audiences!. No one had, with the exception of O'Neil, written such soul-baring material!. For its time, and even today, mental illness, canibalism, castration, all depicted on stage, was outrageous!.
