Question: Should I do "Theatre Studies"!?
I started private singing lessons this year after many years of choir!. For a long time I have wished to be able to be in a musical for school and stuff!. Especially just recently when I saw WICKED!. OMG that was the best show I have ever saw!. I am in love with all the songs and I would love more than anything to play ELphaba someday!. But hoenestly going back to reality I am really not that confident and so I'm not all that good at acting!. ALthough I am quite good at singing (not opera standard but u know what i mean)!. Looking at my school choices for next year I am kinda wanting to do Theatre!. But Im scared I'll get to it and not be good at it!. ANd what if this "passion" I'm starting to feel for musical theatre is just actually something I enjoy watching (a hobby) and singing in front of the mirror for (hehe) but I will never actually be part of it!. I'm also quite a busy person, doing my singing, two other big sports and being decent at school work!. SHould I do theatre studies and take a chance or just settle for design that may actually help me in life and not embarrass me to death>!!?!?!!?!!?!!?/

also!.!.!.how good is wicked and the songs!.!.!.!.!.wow! heheWww@QuestionHome@Com

Take the classes! Theatre classes are good for everyone, even business people!. They really make you feel more confident and help at the meetings!. (My personal experience ;))!. So don't worry, it is not gonna be a waste of time, even if you won't go into the musical career!.
I believe almost everyone can become a decent actor, if you really put yourself into it!.

Go for it, and good luck!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Are there any community theatre's you can audition for!?

If you're looking at BFA programs, many of them are quite rigorous and require being "passed" into the upper level classes via audition!. Meaning you could start out as a theatre major, but get cut from the program your junior year!. so!.!.!.if you're really aren't good, that should be an indication to maybe try something else!.

At any rate, it doesn't sound like you actually have any onstage experience, so you're right, how can you know if you like it or not!? Try out for a show! And if you end up just being a musical theatre spectator - hey, that's great! Actors wouldn't be able to do what they do without all the people who love theatre who come out to watch the shows!! The audience is the most important part!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Take just once class and see what you think then!. What can it hurt!? I took lots of theatre classes even though I was kind of shy and ended up loving it!. Don't worry about not being good at it, not even the best Oscar winning actors started out that great!. Take a class, learn if you like it and if you do LEARN to do it well!. You don't have to major in it or decide what you are going to do with the rest of your life right now!. You will always regret the risk not taken over the the thing you tried and didn't do that well at!. Good Luck!.
PS I finally just saw Wicked, it was great!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
