Question: Audition Tomorrow!? Haven't practiced!? Help!!?
So last week, I picked up a script to do a monologue for the school play!. You're suppose to do one monologue by yourself, and then another one with a partner!. Well every time I try to set up a time to practice, she cancels!. She doesn't have a cell phone so it makes it harder to contact because she's never home and doesn't return my calls!. She says the only way of contacting me is through myspace, but even then it takes her days to reply!.

Our audition is tomorrow and we haven't practiced together ONCE!. Will us not practicing together affect my chances of getting in!? I'm also afraid that she hasn't practiced at all and that she'll decide not to audition last minute!. The director said you're not allowed to use anybody else's partner because it would be an unfair advantage if they auditioned twice!.

Advice please!? :(Www@QuestionHome@Com

You will do just fine if you practice your lines and practice improv, or making up lines to cover up for someone else's lack of dedication!
Practice your part, and perform the partner scene with a teddy bear or jar of cookies, or anything that you can use as a focal point to simulate the other actors eyeline, so it looks like your really talking to someone!. Pretend that it's the other character (maybe someone you know so you're more comfortable unless it's supposed to be awkward)

It sounds like your partner has decided to bail out, if she has than beg your teacher to let you perform the scene even without the other person, or ask for one of the judges to read her lines while you deliever to the pretend person, make sure to keep the same eyeline with them throughout the peformance so you can focus on the emotion and not where they're supposed to be standing, it's easiest to just stand at 3 quarters and look straight ahead (actors in front of green screens do this all the time)

It should not affect your chances if she sucks, chances are, if they are considering you for the role they will do a "call-back" and ask you to perform the scene or an alternate scene with a different actor they are considering!. The Auditions I've been to RARELY involve another actor, even if it's a scene for two or more people!.

Be prepared to cover for her when she screws up the monologue!. Get creative and start in with "wouldnt you" and shouldnt you" statements when she gets stuck, as if it's part of the act!. The director will know what it going on, but YOU will look good in the end!.

Not to state the obvious, but pick another partner! :-)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I hope she does bail, because then you could ask your director if you could do a scene with him!. He'd be impressed by your courage!. And make sure your monologue is really good!. I'd practice both like crazy!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

just tell you were severely attacked while waiting in line at the dmv
tell them this maniac was picking random fights so he could get in line faster and he chose you
