Question: Why does everyone die at the end of hamlet!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
No, Connor, the reason is that it is the traditional way to end an Elizabethan revenge tragedy!. There are some alive, Horatio, Fortinbras, for example!. And no, not all tragedies end with the hero's death, Oedipus does not die, nor does Orestes, famous tragic heroes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

to reiterate Conor's response: IT'S SHAKESPEAREAN!. he likes to kill people!. and yes, it's a tragedy and Elizabethan, but Shakespeare also drew roots from many Greek plays, in which people often die!. even a romance like "Romeo and Juliet" kills the main characters!. Shakespeare's just cool like that!. look at any of his other plays and i'm sure you'll find that most of his plays end similarly!. besides, isn't "Hamlet" based on actual events!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Because the play Hamlet is a tragedy and often in tragedies the main characters die!. Thus the reason why all the main characters die in Hamlet!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
