Question: Musical audition help!?

Alright, I'm going to try out for a musical piece for my high school and I need a song!. The musical is "In The Heights" so it's preferred something for that style!. I'm also a soprano!. Thanks for any help =)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Wicked is infact amazing, however there arent very many good solo parts for JUST glinda, other than Popular, and she isnt a soprano there!. There isnt much i can recommend on the subject of Hip Hop peices, but for a fast-passed, soprano song, i would recommened "My New Philosophy" from "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown" I've seen girls sing both Sally and Shroders part in an audition!. The good thing about this song too is that to perform it, you have to have a huge smile and wide face and body expressions, a good way to show off that your not afraid to be "too big" or shy! also, the director will most likely be surprised that you sang something from a musical that became only some-what well known!. Honestly, don't do whatever your friends are doing!. It's extremly boring for the director to listen to the same song 15 different times!.!.!.even if you're the best, if you're 15th, they won't remember you!. Best musical ever is totally subjective :p Pick something you sing well!.

I've never seen In the Heights - but it's hip hop and soul music - if it's simmilar to popular hip hop or soul, pick something from that (not like, in da club, but like good soul!?) Be careful picking anything by Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houstin and any of the really popular soul singers - even if you're good, people will compare you to them, and they'll be better!. So you'll look bad even if you're not!. (It happens on American Idol all the time)Www@QuestionHome@Com
