im about to start acting with an agency like tv/movie acting not broadway or anything!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: LA is known more for its TV and Film industries and NYC more for its theater but not everything is as it seems!. Due to certain tax benefits many shows and films are shot in NYC as well as a lot of commercials!. Www@QuestionHome@Com los angeles is #1 in film!. try checking out backstage!.com, ny411!. la411!.com central casting!.com(ny), the mayors office for films in nyc, the ny film commission, actors access, variety, and playbill for info, articles, columns etc!. also get a copy of the actors guide(ny) or (la)!. there's a wealth of information available in these sites and books to start you off in a good direction!. there is information on acting schools, coaches, conservatories!. the unions for film, stage, and tv performers for both nyc and la!.you might try a short visit to nyc to network with working actors, agencies with managers who can help map out a plan for your career or try "birdland" bar and grill,( i think it's still a $10/10/10 min' )on monday nights to rub elbows with the veterans, up and comers, and famous personalities that frequently stop in to visit and perform!. make it an info gathering mission" and a chance to network for contacts!. develop a plan to find coaching and acting lesson on your schedule that are affordable for auditions in the theater and film!. nyc is expensive to live in so check with many agencies actors!. agents!. managers for housing and other costs!. day jobs, transportation, food, safety, phone,etc!. good luck also note: don't dive in nyc, take the bus or subway, or cabs!. get a bus map of routes and schedules and subway map/schedules +fares, and some real comfortable walking shoes, you'll need them, and stay alert as crime is big in nyc, hide your bank roll securely and only have what you need immediately within reach, digg ! travelers checks and a second set of id!.licence etc are good precautionsWww@QuestionHome@Com you may want to try new york or something!. even though you dont want to do broadway!.
