One must be in verse (blank or rhymed) from a play by Shakespeare or another Jacobean playwright!.
One from a modern play written after 1956!.

My best advice is to see a play, if your timescale is short!. Shakespeare is a difficult start so why not find a play which is after 1956 and understand it FIRST!. See the play or plays on film, TV, live theatre or Radio!. Radio 4 website will give you detail of plays, but remember you have then to get the script! There must be something there for both your acting talent, and your audience!.
A play after1956 which you understand as a play, which then contains a two minute piece to use!. If you enjoy doing this it is half the battle!.

A contrasting piece between Shakespeare and 1956 should become a challenge and you could even use the same source from your first choice!.

Finally the Bard-study by reading slowly and trying to understand what is being said!. In all cases sincerity is half of the actors voice!. In this case choose your script first and understand a two minute part!. Romeo's response to Juliet is far more complex than you would suspect!. So have a go at understanding it, enjoy it and then present it your own way!. (Hope this helped) Good Luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
