Question: Is singing this okay!?
I have an audition for Into the Woods on Sept!. 10, this is the first musical I ever tried out for, do you think singing the song Legally Blonde would be okay!? I know it has Emmit in it but those parts can be easily skipped!. What about Ireland from the show too!. I sing those songs best and I'm really unsure of what to pick!. Thanks in Advance!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Songs from Legally Blonde are very overdone at auditions, and also not particularly suitable for a Sondheim show!. Sondheim is in a class of his own and there's really no other composer who writes music like him; the only way a casting director is going to get an idea of whether you can sing a Sondheim song is by you singing another Sondheim song!. You don't want to use a song from Into the Woods, but there are a lot of other wonderful songs out there!. You don't say what your vocal range is, so I can't be any more specific, but have a look at some other Sondheim shows and find a song which you think will work!. Generally speaking, if you're auditioning for Cinderella or Rapunzel (both sopranos) try something like Lovely from A Funny Thing Happened on the Way To The Forum or Green Finch and Linnet Bird from Sweeney Todd; if you're auditioning for the Witch, Little Red or the Baker's Wife (all mezzos) maybe the Miller's Son from A Little Night Music, one of Dot's songs from Sunday in the Park With George (Bernadette Peters was the original Witch and the original Dot), Sooner or Later from Dick Tracy (a film rather than a musical, but Sondheim wrote the music) or Old Friends from Merrily We Roll Along!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i saw in to the woods and really enjoyed it!. its kinda light and comedic so that would be ok as long as you can sing it well

try a song from enchanted (amy adams)Www@QuestionHome@Com
