Well, it's highly recommended that you DO NOT take your own head shots!. Professionals have gone to school and know the exact art of getting you at the right angel and how to make you look fantastic and professional, so you can hand your pictures to an agent without being embarrassed!.

If however, you are still up for doing your own head shot (I'm telling you, it makes a sloppy impression D:) then here are some tips:

You need photoshop, to edit blemishes; and head shots are normally black and white!.
Your background must be something casual, you should look relaxed, and depending on what your going for portray a certain look
Commercial head shots are normally bouncy and smiley
Acting head shots are basically just kind of relaxed, and dreamy!.

Do not wear busy clothing, and don't over exaggerate your make up!.

When you've taken your pictures, bring them to a printers; they need to be a 10 x 8 ( I do believe that's the correct size) and they need to be elaminated!.
It's silly, but elamination changes with fashion, so do some research to see if you want glossy elimination, or matte, or semi-gloss!.

After that, your in the good!. Make sure to take more head shots if you ever change your look though!

And please consider a professional, photographers weren't put on the earth for nothin! =)
hope I helped!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
