Question: I'm auditioning for a play at my school, how should i practice beforehand!?
My school is putting on Little Women: A Broadway Musical!. Auditions are in about a month!. I am checking the book out from the library to read!. I have little to no acting experience!. We don't need to come with anything prepared!. They teach us choreography and give us the scripts at auditions!.

~I am really really really really really really nervous!

I need tips to make me less nervous and if I should practice reading any scripts or anything!! ~Thanks!!~Www@QuestionHome@Com

Here's some tips for your audition:

--Project your voice, meaning BE LOUD! Use your diaphragm!. This is the most important thing!. If your audition is in a big auditorium, make sure you can hear your voice echoing off the back wall!. Speak to the whole auditorium (even if most of it is empty), not just the directors sitting in the front row!.

--Don't let them know you're nervous!. If your nerves get the best of you, you'll mess up!.

--Be friendly and personable when introducing yourself!. Directors like people that'll be good to work with!.

--When they have you read something, try to get into the character as much as you can!. Don't read from the script like you're reading a book!. Look at the script as little as possible, and look out at the back of the auditorium instead!. Don't look right at the directors!.

--Make sure you don't talk too fast!. People tend to talk fast when they get nervous!. If you read through the part too fast, the directors will assume you're too nervous to do it properly!.

--When you're dancing, just try your best and smile a lot and look like you're having fun!. Smiling is very important while dancing in musicals!.

The most important thing is that they can hear you loud and clear!. If they can't hear you or understand you, they're not going to cast you!.

Break a leg! I hope this is helpful!.

First do what you would do before any event like this (rest good breakfast ect) Next really study the musical!. Know at least one basic fact about each important character, so you will be prepared to successfully read whatever the person conducting audition wants you to read!. Attend any broadway play and get a feel for how they act!. There is nothing that can substitute for a physical experience with acting!. There are different types of audition materials dialog and monologue!. If it's a monologue practice picking a point any where and focusing on it!. Do not lose focus!. also act how you normally would!. Hope i helped!. Good luck and tell me if you got a part thanks!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

To get a part, you want to read the script loud enough to be heard!. Not overly loud, but enough to give the impression that you could be heard on stage to the back row!. also, read the parts in the script like you were talking to another person!. Nervous!? You have a job to do as an actor in a play, just like you were working in the public!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
