The best thing you can do is just take every opportunity to learn, learn, learn :) Its great that you signed up!. And don't listen to your unsupportive family!.

Don't worry if you don't always get a speaking role!. It happens!. Right now almost any experience will only help you!. Plus if you just do your best with the parts you do get, and not complain about them, that will gain you a reputation as being good to work with, and you'll be known for your professionalism and good attitude directors will remember that and start considering you for bigger roles in the future!. also, be willing to do things backstage as well!. Not only will you learn new skills, it will keep you working in theatre no matter what, even when you're not acting!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Go and see as many plays as you can!. This time of the year there should be a lot of summer theatres!. If you can't afford to buy a ticket see if you can usher or hand out programs to get in for free!.

While you're watching the play think about what the actors are doing that moves you and what emotions you feel as you are watching the play!.

Don't listen to anyone else!. If you keep working at it you will enjoy your life so much in the theatre!Www@QuestionHome@Com

That's awesome that you're interested in theater! In all my experience I have found that theater people are some of the most excepting groups and finding new additions to any theater department is always a plus!. Unfortunately acting isn't something you can pick up over the summer!. The point of an acting class is to learn those techniques; no theater teacher will ever require you have previous knowledge if you're a beginner!. That's why they're there- to teach :)!. I can give you a few tips in general however!. First, just put yourself out there!. Don't be afraid to be outgoing and do things out of your comfort zone!. The great thing about acting is that you don't have to be yourself on stage; you get to be someone completely different therefore you don't need to fear what people will think of you!. Second, really try everything that your teacher gives you to do!. Even if you're uncomfortable or think you won't do good just try! The best way to improve is to try your hardest first!. And don't pay attention to how you did in the 3rd grade! That's long gone and every actor has to start somewhere!. EVeryone has performances that they're not very proud of!. Actors are constantly improving their skill so keep working at it! The class you signed up for is a great opportunity to get better!. I hope that helps you!Www@QuestionHome@Com
