Question: Does anybody understand David Storey's play 'In Celebration!?!?

I just finished a reading of the play and I feel I am missing something!.!.!.!.what was the family secret that noone mentioned!? what did the mother do to Andrew as a boy!? what was wrong with Steven!? Please help!Www@QuestionHome@Com

If I remember rightly, there was another brother Jamie who died from pneumonia as a child!. Andrew was sent to a neighbour while the mother tried to cope with it!. He resented being shut out from the house!. When he banged on the door to be let in, she refused to answer!. I suspect Steven feels depressed because he hasn't lived up to his own expectations!. All of them were affected by the death of Jamie in their own way, but none of them could really speak openly about how it affected them!. Andrew was seemingly the only one who tried (at the family gathering), but yet again no-one really wanted to talk about it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
