Question: I have an audition for an advanced acting class, and I need to perform 16 bars!. Any suggestions!?

I am a teen with a wide range!. I sing alto, but can reach most soprano notes!. I have a richer voice (I'm thinking of doing something from the sound of music or Phantom!.) If anyone has any suggestions from songs that are not overdone, that would be awesome! also, if anyone has any 1 minute monologues, that would be great, but I have one in mind that I have been working on, so I'm not so concerned about that!. why not try songs you can act through:-

"Someone like you" jekyl and Hyde
"Winner takes it all" mamma mia
"Astonishing or Fire within me" little women
"Women" Pirate queen
"maybe this time" Cabaret

also - IF YOU WANT TO SURPRISE THEM - SING "TAKE A CHANCE ON ME" FROM "MAMA MIA" BUT TAKE IT REALLY SLOW AND KIND OF SAD - LIKE YOU REALLY NEED SOMEONE TO TAKE A CHANCE ON YOU!. A FRIEND OF MINE SANG IT LIKE THAT AND IT MADE ME CRY IT WAS SO EMOTIONAL AND UNUSUAL AND BEAUTIFUL!!!! SHE ALMOST GOT A LEAD IN THE MOVIE FROM THAT! ( BUT SHE WAS TOO YOUNG FOR THE PART)
!. REMEMBER - A GOOD SONG IS LIKE A MONOLOGUE - IT TELLS A STORY AND SOMETIMES IT IS MORE ABOUT YOUR INTERPRETATION OF THE SONG - THE EMOTION YOU PUT BEHIND IT THAN HOW PRETTY YOUR VOICE IS ( EVEN THOUGH YOU MAY HAVE A REALLY PRETTY VOICE)
ANOTHER GOOD SONG IS "THE ROSE" OR "THE WIND BENEATH MY WINGS" BY BETTE MIDLER FOR YOUR KIND OF VOICE!.
IF YOU ALREADY FEEL GOOD ABOUT YOUR MONOLOGUE - STICK WITH IT!. GET AN ACTING COACH TO WORK WITH YOU ON IT!.

Phantom IS overrated!.
My suggestions are

Alto-"I Got The Sun In The Mornin" from Annie Get Your Gun!. It's has belts, but fairly simple ones!. (the belting notes are eighth notes)

Mezzo- "My New Philisophy" from You're A Good Man Charlie Brown
