Joe's answer just about has it right, except that it's not a "magical" lasso---it's called a "Punjab lasso", and it's an assassin's strangling line, soft and barely visible until it drops around your neck from above or behind and then it's much too late to cry out or struggle!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In the play, the Phantom has a magical lasso that he can put around the neck of anyone he don't like!. He uses it to hang Joseph the stage hand and gets it around Rauol's neck in the final scene!.
By keeping your hand at the level of your eyes you are able to keep your arm in a position that will keep the lasso from your neck!. Your arm would also be in the noose allowing you to escape strangulation!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'd tell you!.!.!.!. But you should go and see the show for yourself!. it's make a lot of sense to you then!. And if I told you now, then you'd probably not want to go see the show!.!. Because you know quite a bit of it already!. But go see the show!. Or rent the movie!. People say the movie isn't as good!.!. That it's bad!. Though it is not as good as the Broadway show, it is very good compared to many movie/musical adaptations!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i would love to tell you, but i think it would be best to go see the show! if you dont have the time or the money, rent the movie that came out in 2004!. its not as good as the stage production, but it is still REALLY good!.

good luck!
