The process of becoming an actress never stops!. You are an actress the first time you step onstage and speak a line, and a student even when you take your 5000th bow on Broadway or accept a Golden Globe, with a whole lot of classes and productions and long days and nights and a TON of work in between!.

Obviously, this really depends on three things: connections, talent, and drive!. If you're a talented actress, all you need to do now is bang on some doors and get noticed!. If you're not so talented yet, you should probably look into some acting classes because that's a great place to start!. Then, you can start playing in local theatre to get some experience under your belt!. And you don't necessarily have to live in LA, but of course that's where you'll be most likely to get noticed!. And if you have talent and connections, but no drive, you'll get nowhere!. You really have to want it!. So there's no set time period, it can range anywhere from two years to ten!. Acting does not happen overnight nor becoming an actress!. It is probalby a lifetime span!. Once that you got there where you wanted, there will be a new challenge of a more complex character you aspire to!. The key point is to be an artist!. Just pursue it, perform, perform, perform, in any possible play to get seen by as many people possible!.!.!. You also have to identify a style that you want!. A person, group, or company that really make you think "I want to do that"!. Find a way to practice with their technique (and i said practice, besides study)!. practice is finally what will get you on stage in a solid way!. Make yourself clear if you want either a JOB or an artistic activity that will make you happy!. Being notorious is not necessary being talented, or, even worse, it will make you compromise many ethical things that you might not like to do or act in plays that you dont really like!. How long depends on you!. I, myself, am an aspiring actor and I have taken some acting classes!. When my teacher quit giving lessons, I didn't do anything after that!. I didn't go to any auditions or anything!. So, had I gone to some auditions, I might could have gotten a small speaking part or maybe just a part as an extra in a movie!. I'm holding myself back, so I am basically the blame!. So to answer your question, if you are serious about becoming an actress, you need to get on your grind!. Put you face out there, network and don't expect for success to find you, you have to go get it!. How long!?
