Question: What are some ups and downs of being an actress/model!?
me and my mom have been trying to find me an agent, because I really want to be an actress/model!.
What would we need to consider!? What positives and negatives are there!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
What you need to consider is being prepared with rejections!. Having to always believe yourself when your not in the mood

I think that's the main thing with negatives of being a actress/model!. The stress of being rejected!.
And no matter what you ALWAYS have to get up and keep trying!.

Another negative is competition, girls talking about you, competing!. but don't let that get you down!. Trying to reach the spotlight but as long as you have the confidence you got it!.

There's also meeting cold mean directors, photographers, casting directors, etc!. Who criticize you, be prepared to not take everything they say to the heart, but also be humble no matter what!.

And also, people will always talk about you!. Remember that everybody talks about everybody, and you'll be fine!.

Positives!.
I think the positives, is being passionate of what you do, as long as your driven to do what you believe in!. And when you finally accomplish it, the best part is looking back on how strong you are and how much you went through!. How you'll become a role model for someone, for people!.

Good Luck, I wish you the best!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

MODELING: It is an extremely tough industry because they are extremely specific when it comes to looks (height, weight, skin, etc!.)!. You are no more than a walking hanger so it's not all glamor and fun!. The schedules are rigorous and many times you get treated like crap because the customers don't care about you, they care about how you represent their product!. Just watch a few seasons of America's Next Top Model and you will get a very good first hand depiction of modeling!. You can make some good money, but you have to really hustle and constantly market yourself!. You have to be in the right place at the right time and you have to constantly keep yourself up!. It's not just about outer beauty but also about personality!. BE PREPARED FOR REJECTION!. If you are a cry baby or get your feelings hurt easily, do not get into either industry!. You have to be emotionally strong!.

ACTING: There are so many more options with acting because there really aren't as many limitations!. Actors appear everywhere from commercials, movies, print ads, and just about EVERYTHING you see a person in!. You just have to decide what are you want to focus on so that you can give them what they are looking for!. A portfolio for an advertising actress will look different from that of a movie actress!. Then consider other forms of acting like voiceovers!.!.!.!.!.you don't have to have a particular look, but you must be creative with your voice!. Agencies are always looking for "regular people" to place for commercial gigs (everything you see on TV)!. You can be geeky, pretty, old, young, handicapped, white, black, tall, short, kids, baby, a mother, a father!.!.!.!.so many roles to fill!. But again it requires major hussle!. You have to live in an area where the industry thrives (LA, NY, DC) to get a head start!. Remember there can be lines wrapped around the building to audition for one role!. That means hours and hours (even days) of standing in line just to audition a 3 min line!. So be prepared!.

Lastly, you need to watch out for the scammers!. You should NEVER have to PAY to get into modeling and acting!. If they ask you to pay a fee, they are just making money off you or making you pay for classes or photos at an inflated price!. A real agency will make money off of you when they place you with an agency, not up front!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Do you mean being a famous actress/model!? Or just being an actress/model!?
Because the answers you're getting apply to celebrities!.!.!.

Just being an actor, you wouldn't deal with any of that!.
Negatives will far outweigh the positives!. This isn't something you "consider"
This is something you do because you have to!.!.!. because you can't imagine doing anything else!. Period!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Have you had acting classes!? If not, that is your first step!. The director doesn't have time to teach an actor what to do!. Besides being able to act, there is a lot of technical things one learns in an acting class that you have to know!. You can start in school, in an after-school or weekend program or at community centers!.

Positives-
If you NEED to act, if it's inside of you, acting will make you feel whole!. There is nothing better in life than loving your career!.

It is hard to make a lot of money in modeling, but even if you're not at the top, there are many opportunities to travel all over the world!. You get to wear amazing clothes and meet creative people!. You can make great contacts to help you later in business!.

Negatives -
Acting = Poor, Model = even more Poor and shorter career

With both you will face rejection every day, usually more than once a day!.

Sometimes not treated well by those you're working with!. Directors are often not very nice, even to young kids!. A model is often nothing more than a clothes hanger!.

Much of both careers are based on your looks, which tends to make woman go a bit crazy, no matter how beautiful they are!.

Very competitive, so lots of stressed out people you'd be dealing with!.

SAG (Screen Actors Guild) union, you need to belong to work -- Only 5 percent of their members make more than $75,000 a year from acting, middle class in LA is $100,000 because it is so expensive (you'd have to make twice that to buy a modest home in a safe area)!. 2/3 of members make less than $1000 a year from acting!.

Many wonderful actors make a living by teaching acting!. While they'd rather be acting, they enjoy teaching because they love acting!. You really have to love it, it has to be part of you, because it's so hard to make a living!.

For modeling, have your mom contact agents in your area!. If they ask for ANY money, or insist you pay for photos through them, they are NOT legitimate!. You don't need professional photos to see an agent, if you're just starting out, it's better not to have them in case they are bad!. Just have some casual photos of your face and body, the agent will likely also take some when you go see them!. The agent can give you suggestions on good photographers if they are interested in you!.

So you gotta love it to do it!

Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Those are different things!.!.!.!. the key point is to be an artist!. for Acting: Just pursue it, perform, perform, perform, in any possible play to get seen by as many people possible!.!.!. You also have to identify a style that you want!. A person, group, or company that really make you think "I want to do that"!. Find a way to practice with their technique (and i said practice, rather than study)!. practice is finally what will get you on stage in a solid way!. Make yourself clear if you want either a JOB or an artistic activity that will make you happy!. Being notorious is not necessary being talented, or, even worse, it will make you compromise many ethical things that you might not like to do or act in plays that you dont really like!. The commercial circuit not always cross roads with the pure artistic lane, so you have to be focused in what you deeply wish!. Welcome! Best of luckWww@QuestionHome@Com

Well i guess the only positive is that you get A LOT of money!. But otherwise it ruins your life!. You become overobssessed with yourself, even if you tell yourself you won't!. You'll end up looking in the mirror, and end up hateing what you see, because someone else looks better!. It controls your life, and that's the only thing you have time for and think about!. I mean look at all the stars!? They truely have sooo many problems in thier life, and they end up going bazurk! And i think it's because they are always being watched constantly being dissed on things just 4 people's entertainment!. And they will never be treated like an actual human being again!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
