Question: Yep!.!.!.Another "I Want to be an Actress" Question :)
Hi Everybody!. I'm new to the forum -- got here by googling my question!. In a nutshell, I am tired of seeing people that are successful in entertainment and aren't as articulate or attractive as me!. (i!.e!., whoopi g!., the overweight african-american female doctor on "grey's anatomy", etc!.), I truly feel if they can be successful at acting, then I certainly can too!. I tire of struggling to have just a mediocre life!. I want in! I'm a 47-year old mixed race (but look African-American) woman who looks like a 37 or 38 year old, I stay in the gym to keep it going!. I'm 5'10' and have a good speaking voice - people have told me that I sound like someone who should do commercials!. I am very attractive with large almond shaped expressive eyes, straight white teeth (spent enough $$ on them!) and my nose and lips are not big at all and nicely shaped!. I've been told I look like Kim Coles but skinnier and taller!. I read aloud very well!. I make a decent living working in Midtown as an executive assistant right now, but want to break into acting!.

How do I start the ball rolling!? Is it possible to keep my day job and still pursue an acting career!? (I know I'll have to spend $$$ to pursue) Does anyone know of a reasonably priced photographer in NYC or Brooklyn for my headshots!? And finally, is it possible to audition if you only have headshots and no resume!? -- Thanks for taking the time to answer and good luck in your personal pursuit of happiness too :)

To keep your day job and go for it, I would suggest some practical things such as find a photographer who specializes in actor's head shots and go get one, Tryout for some amateur theatre, there should be lots of community theatres around!. Take a weekend class at a professional acting studio!. Read Acting as a Business by Brian O'Neil and submit to agents!. You certainly should be able to keep your job while giving this a try--I am assuming that they will give you an afternoon off once in a while for auditions and interviews!. Break a leg!. You disgust me!. If you were actually a famous actress, you wouldn't have any fans!. Nobody likes someone who thinks acting is all about looks!. Acting is about skill and talent!. You, obviously, have none!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

1!. get some training (dance, voice acting)
2!. community theater
3 make sure you REALLY want this
4 get an agent

this all could take years but go and follow your dreams and always have a backupWww@QuestionHome@Com

lol, Here's some advice, Try looking at other peoples similar questions!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hi there!.
You've already got a headstart with intelligence and good communication skills!. What you do need is experience in the process of learning and understanding the craft!. It's not as easy or simple a process as it seems, and it takes time to master!.
I'd suggest college-level theater courses in acting as your best jump-off place!. Many universities and community colleges offer evening classes or workshops at fairly reasonable costs!. Another possibility is looking for improvisational theater workshops or classes outside school settings!. Little theater groups (amateur) can be found in most big cities that you can try out for as well!. Any of these will give you a feel for the profession, and a good idea of whether or not you'll have the time, energy and interest to proceed!.
If you want to try the headfirst approach, get some headshots taken and try your luck at an agency that specializes in providing work for extras in movie work and/or commercials!. Your lack of resume may (and I emphasize "may") not be a hindrance if your looks, maturity and personality are sufficiently interesting!.
If you can find open auditions, a resume is a must!. Very few, if any, casting directors will gamble on an unknown quantity, regardless of what impression you may make on-site!.

In any event, I wish you good fortune, good hunting, and hope you find the world of acting interesting, exciting and fulfilling!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Excuse me but being attractive has nothing to do with acting and if u think that's what acting is all about then you might want to go into another type of business hun!. U need talent and a lot of it!.

And what type of casting director would take an wanna be actress without experience!!!! None that I know!. There have been people who have been acting since they were in pampers and still haven't become as successful as they wanted to be and you think just becausee ur attractive that you will be the next halle berry!. I THINK NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try acting classes sweetyWww@QuestionHome@Com

As articulate and unattractive as you!?

Here's the thing, in order to be a successfully attractive, you have to take all your talents BEYOND race and looks!.

The industry doesn't care as long as they see you don't care!. And the woman off Greg's anatomy, she's cute, and she's healthy, it doesn't matter about weight people are build different ways!.
you know how she got that role, it was suppose to be for a tall white woman with blond hair!. But guess what, she went in there and she auditioned anyway!.

And yes you need a head shot, and they'll cost money, but nothing else would!.

You need a resume to get a agent and directors will look at your resume for past experience!.
So, go find an agent who won't charge a fee upfront!. And good luck!.

But please take it beyond it, you can be as fine or whatever!. but what they care about is that talent, and being HUMBLE!.

I think you need to change your personality, first!.

but good luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
