In your audition you are usually asked to prepare 2 monologues, a funny one and a serious one!. You can (and should) act out the scene as you perform it because the people who are watching will be looking at how well you act and how much you "draw the audience in"!. Depending on the play you are auditioning for, you may want to choose a scene that calls for an accent, but be careful!.!.!.if you don't do the accent well, don't do it!. Bad accents can cost you a role or distract the director!. Choose a monologue that fits the character that you are trying for, like if the role is a young girl, don't pick the speech of an old lady!. Memorize both monologues and practice them in front of a mirror until you can do them well!. Find someone who will watch you practice, like a good friend who can be objective and tell you what they think, and try it out on them!. Once you have the speeches down, think about the characters you are acting out!. Why do they say and do these things in these scenes!? Some directors ask the actors in an audition to explain their scene and why the character is doing and saying certain things, so be ready!. I am sure you will do fine, if you go to the library or go on line and search for "monologues for young actors" you will find lots of good ones!.

It sounds like a general audition or one for a theater school, so you should not use an accent or dialect!. You should not be monotonous, so use some inflection in the voice!. also, do not just stand still!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You should not use an accent unless the role you are auditioning for requires that particular accent, and even then you should probably check with the director before you go ahead and do it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
