The answer might largely depend on the genre and the company you wish you audition with, AND if any auditioning is taking place certainly!.

While not strictly a fan of agents, I realize they can serve a legitimate purpose, especially with major houses they are affiliated with!. It's relatively easy to check out those most legitimate!.

Cost depends on what they charge for a commission!. A usual could be 10 % of whatever you, the client makes for income!. Obviously 10% of ZERO might be a reason for an agent to NOT have you as a client!. NO upfront money should be paid, with a couple of exceptions!. If for example you are directed to a specific training situation, or need resume work, or head shots, those would likely be upfront costs, though not strictly paid to an agent!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
