Question: Acting in dramas!?
im good at acting at a casual and humorious way, but how can i get better at acting in serious drama scenes!? im like will smith but not a serious personWww@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
acting means reacting to the stimuli of the scene appropriately to the character and his environment in a way that communicates ideas and emotions to an audience, so just do that!. you don't have to be a serious dude, but the character isn't you, as an actor you have to be him, not you!. Find some serious monologues and do them!. Use Colin's movie monologue page!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Have you heard of the Method!?

If not, it might help you improve your dramatic scenes!.

In essence, you take something from your personal life and apply it to the part you are performing!.

For example:
I thankfully have never lost a child, but my character has!. However, I have experienced the loss of other people very important to me!. When trying to figure out how the scene should be performed, I go back to the time and bring out the same raw emotions I felt, even though the situation is slightly different!.

Sorry if that was a bit confusing; feel free to ask questions to clarify!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Do not imitate others!. The character is at the play, not you!. If you got the guts to be humorous, no doubt you will be able to be in serios drama scenes, as long as you dont get into the the stereotype of trying to be "serious"!. Just follow your inner sense!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
