Question: I am planning on auditioning for the Sound Of Music but what qualities do i need to get a part!?!?!?!? Help!!?
I am 13 years old and I am going to audition for the Sound Of Music in my local family theatre but I have a few questions!. One, what qualities do I need to get a part and to be a good actor!? Two, this is my 5th play I hav auditioned for, what part in the play would be best for me to audition for!? Three, we have to sing a song in the audition and I am planning on singing Somewhere Over The Rainbow from the wizard of oz!. Is that a good song to sing at an audition!? My last question is, how do I learn to speak louder because in my previous plays I wasn't speaking as loud as I should of been!? Thanks for your help!!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

somewhere over the rainbow is fine to sing if thats a song you know and are comfortable doing!. DONT sing a song from the sound of music as the other poster suggested, thats a no-no for auditions! just project your voice, imagine it hitting the back wall of the room you're in, think about your lower belly being strong and speaking from there!. this will improve with time and dont worry about it too much for the audition!. i think you should not worry about a specific part, just audition the best you can and see what they might see you as!. i cant remember all those kids ages, but i think louisa or brigitte von trapp (!?) would be the parts in your age range!. basically just be very well prepared and practice your song alot, and do your best!. walk in with confidence!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

They made that film years ago!.!.!.!.!.arnt you a bit late!? lol

I would have thought 'over the rainbow' was more challenging than any of the songs in the 'Sound of Music'!. Why not pick one from the film!?

BTW You can be sure that Julie Andrews did not run and sing while in the Alps, the air is so rarified that she would have been on her knees in minutes!.

Speak louder or greater resonance!? You may need some assistance for that!. Speak as though you were talking to the back of the hall!. Its does not have to be loud to carry!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
