This is a hypothetical question!. I mean high school students deal with drugs, homosexuality, and even AIDS at times!. It uses little to no props and very simple set and costume design!. It's a low maintnence play and all you need is some really good actors!. So my question is - If you child's high school put on RENT would you think it appropriate and would you let them audition/perform in the play!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: As much as I love the show, RENT shouldn't be put on in a high school!. It has everything that parents frown upon and that could be really bad for the school!. But if the school is putting on the production and there's no way to change that, then I would let my kid join!. If they really wanted to!. I know it sounds kind of contradictory!.!.!.but it's the only answer I have, so I'm sorry!. if it didn't help!.Www@QuestionHome@Com No!. While Rent is a great musical, it has far too much inappropriate content for a high-school production!. It is relevant content in todays world, even more so to high-school aged students, there would be far too many parents that would not approve though!.Www@QuestionHome@Com No, RENT is not appropriate for high schools!. also, the acting and voices required for the show are for much mature performers!.Www@QuestionHome@Com No, it think there would be far to much controversy and innapropriate content for a public school!. Maybe in a special performing arts school, where singing/acting/dancing is important and the parents are more likely to be liberal they could decide for themselves!.Www@QuestionHome@Com no!. a highschool should not put on rent!. unless you have amazing singing lesbians and gays that wanna kiss each other during la vie boheim, etc!., i doubt that straight highschoolers would wanna do that!. plus, even though teenagers deal with this stuff, its less than 50% that do it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com i've never seen rent but i think yes because seasons of love sounds great with a choir of mainly girls (friends of mine have performed it and this way it sounds heaps better than the original)Www@QuestionHome@Com |
