Manager means different things!.

A stage manager makes sure that all the things that happen on stage HAPPEN and in the right order, and with all the right stuff!.

An agent or agency basically helps an actor find work!. This is important to those wishing to work regularly!.

A personal manager or management company handles finances and legal issues!. Few people need or can afford this service!.

A theatre manager makes sure that plays happen and happen in a way that helps the theatre with good audience numbers, quality plays and quality personnel!.

If you are going to be acting next year, that's great!. You should look into making sure you get an Equity Card!. Actor's Equity can help you with all the issues associated with working in the industry!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

With all due respect, if you need to be "managed" by someone, then you aren't working for you!. IF on the other hand you're thinking about being represented as a viable commodity by an AGENT, then one might assume that a legitimate agent would take you as a client IF you were a "Bankable" PROPERTY!. To be bankable you might assume you have to make an income, from which they will take a commission, and 10% of ZERO $, is hardly a reason for an agent to keep anyone!. I have a low regard for them, but so many of you that come here think they are the RUBY SLIPPERS Dorothy wore!.

What exactly do you mean by "I'm going to be acting next year"!?!?!? Should we assume you have jobs lined up, or are not yet employed in any way, but hope to be!?

I suggest that those in the Millionaire club, who have on retainer, managers, agents, publicists, groomers, gophers, etc!. are already at a point where they don't need them!.

If you're a MINOR, your parents or guardian will MANAGE all of your legal affairs until such time that you are no longer a minor, OR will agree to let others control your life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

be advised you do not want a manager or a talent management company, the latter being a rip off!. A manager, when an actor needs on, takes care of scheduling, ticketing, accomdations, etc for travel, invests the actor's income, pays his bills, etc!. It will be a longlong time until you need one!.And how do you know you are going to be acting next year!? U got a contract with somebody!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

A Manager: Goes with you to your shoots and to your jobs and makes sure that everything is okay for you and makes and some what helps you get jobs but thats really what an Agent does!.

GOOD LUCK
