I wouldn't think so!. it would be like giving yourself a nick name!. I'm sure any pay you get in the form of a check would have to be made out to your actual name thoWww@QuestionHome@Com

Having worked for attorneys in New York State, you can call yourself whatever you want as long as it is not for purposes of fraud!. To protect yourself, a legal name change is not that complicated!. You basically state to the court (in an affidavit and application) the reasons you have for wanting to change your name and a few other boiler plate statements, pay the court fees and the court changes your name officially!. You can get these paralegal firms to do it for you for $99, or whatever their fee is, plus the court fees, or pay an attorney to do basically the same thing!. This works if your circumstances are straightforward and simple!. You would need an attorney if there are mitigating circumtances!. People do it all the time, for any number of reasons!. Taking a stage name is one of them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

First of all but with no real offense your yahoo Q&A ID name might be offensive to some!. Certainly it degrades you!.

Secondly, CRAZY is not how one might define Legal Stuff, when changing a name!. As others have stated, you can call yourself O!.M!.F!.G!. if you wish, to be known on stage or film that way, but legally you may still be LUCY from "Charlie Brown" (no offense)!.

Actually it hardly matters where you are, to change an identity, legally is a complicated process in the paperwork, etc!. AND the paperwork plus court fees vary, even by county,,,but if you want to retain your given name and use a stage name, certainly you can, as long as you don't use it to sign documents, or issues involving any discrepancy between your documented, given name and you stage, (faux) name!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i'm an actress and my first name is sarah-carmel but for acting i use carmel!. and i didn't use the legal stuff, i have a acting name so i stand out, so choose something nice sweet but unusual and let people know this, it won't effect your pay f u state this!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Not unless you want people to write you checks to that name!. You can just use the stage name for programs and credits and not bother legally changing it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Use Donald Duck's lawyer !.!.!.Dewie, Cheatum and Howe !.!.!. can't imagine calling Donald by his real name!.!.!.Robin Finch

Doesn't matter!.!.!.I haven't been a fan since I heard Donald was an eggbeater ~o-o~Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would want my stage name legally protected should you make a name for yourself

For example, you wouldn't want a porn star to use itWww@QuestionHome@Com
