Question: How to get a job doing theater lights or sound!?

I'll assume in your experience or courses of study you've had some theater technology courses!? A 2 year degree program wouldn't hurt, but to DO Lights/Sound/Run the boards, you might check into IATSE, the union that is largely in control of the technical workers, and production aspects of live Performance Theater!.

Certainly there are small venues, community theaters who have multi tasking staff, but for $$$ you'd need to connect with IATSE for larger venue gigs, or permanent theater positionsWww@QuestionHome@Com

volunteer at your local theatre helping with the light and sound technician (help setting up clearing away, transport!. etc) even if you are qualified you will gain good experience and then in a couple of months you will have experience to go for a higher paid job without volunteering!.

good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you are doing TV Production studies in college, I would be going to the drama department there!. That can start you off!. and lead you to regional theaters!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You need to start out doing volunteer work with local amateur groups and work your way up from there!. If you do good work volunteering then paid work will follow - but be prepared to put in the hours first!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
