Question: If you want to major in musical theater in college, do you have to audition!? or they just look at ur grades!?!?

i feel like this is a dumb question but what if your not in the same state as the school!? u go there and audition!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, auditions are almost always required!. Most state public Universities kind of use it as an "intro" to you, because if you make the grades to get into the University at all, you will certainly make it into their department!. Private schools, on the other hand, can be picky and put you through tougher auditions that *do* determine if you get into their school or not!. I found that traveling to these specific schools are the most effective way to establish a good connection with the staff!. A good way to start is to visit a website of a school you're interested in and establish email contact with someone in the faculty there!. Tell them you're interested, and ask if they're having open auditions any time soon!. If you're personable and they see you have an interest in them, they'll take the time to give you your audition!.

I went to a Performing Arts high school and many of my friends had to audition for the school of their choice!. I don't know if your high school has this but at my school they gave you a few "free" days where you could make college visits or do school auditions!. Pretty much all theatre schools do require a live audition!. But there might be a few that will take a video tape audition!. You really have to talk to the schools about this!. When I was going into my field I had to go to the college and !.!.!.yes!.!.!. I had to audition!. I doubt much has changed !. The college won't know whether or not you have talent if you don't audition!. You might try contacting them about sending a video!.!.!.!. but they may want to see you in person!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
