Any of the songs!. Would songs from "The Phantom of the Opera" be considered overdone for audition songs!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Very overdone!. You don't want to sing Andrew Lloyd Webber for any auditions except for an ALW show anyway, and even then, any songs from Phantom will be horribly overdone!.Www@QuestionHome@Com MOST DEFINATELY!. As isabella_klump said, musicaltheatreaudition!.com is a very good source for this sort of stuff, and one of the things listed under "overdone" is: "Almost everything by Andrew Lloyd Webber" True!. Very true, and I agree!. PotO is egregiously overdone!. I'm fairly certain that "Phantom", "Le Miz", "Wicked" and "Rent" are pretty much the four shows that every teenager sings!. However good the shows are, and however good you think you are at them, I would recommend you don't do them!. Not unless you are ABSOLUTELY certain!.Www@QuestionHome@Com musicaltheatreaudition!.com has a search engine you can use for choosing audition songs, it is great and up to date!. it will also give you a list of overdone songs not to do!. I think it depends on which songs you use from phantom!.!.!. people probably don't use phantom much these days, but then again it is so overly recognizeable I would probably try to choose something a little more interesting!. check out that site, and keep in mind what it is you are auditioning for!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Personally I'd avoid anything Webber, as it's rather dated, especially at auditions!. It's like doing "On My Own" from Les Mis!. Yeah you can bring a new interpretation to it, but after hearing the same song a million times, it gets old regardless of the talent behind it!. I'd try the search engine mentioned by another user or you might try asking the question at http://www!.broadwayworld!.com/board/ as they have a whole bevvy of people to answer these questions!. Hope this helps!.Www@QuestionHome@Com funny you would ask, but if you are doing it as a performance/something similar, i wouldn't do it, cuz it is a bit overused!. try finding something fresher!.Www@QuestionHome@Com If you bring a fresh and unique interprtation and musicality, I think it can be impressive to give new life to something that is heard a lot!.Www@QuestionHome@Com I agree, Phantom of the Opera is quite tacky - try to broaden your musical horizon and think of some older musicals like My Fair Lady (one of my favourites)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com YESWww@QuestionHome@Com |
