Question: Acting in Sacramento plus info about a typical acting class!?
I just graduated from University of San Francisco but moved back home to Sacramento!. I want to try acting, but I have never done it before!. I'm 21, and I've been finding a lot of acting classes for kids, but none for adults!. I realize I'm not in the ideal city for acting, but I need to save up here in Sacramento before I can move to a place like Los Angeles or New York!. I don't want to waste this year in terms of training while I save up, so if you have any places that offer good classes I'd be so grateful to know!.
On a side note, I'm terrified and shy right now about beginning an acting class, and I'm wondering what happens in a typical beginning acting class!? I have experience performing as a ballet dancer, so I suppose I'm not completely inexperienced, but I'm still terrified!

Try looking at universities in Sacramento for non-credit classes you can take!. As an adult especially, that will probably be your best bet!.
also, with acting sometimes the best way to do it is just to do it!.
Look in the paper for any open auditions you can go to!.
Even if you don't have a resume yet, that's okay!. A lot of community theatres will be more than happy to give you a chance if you seem friendly and reliable and have a bit of talent!.
With the shyness!.!.!. i think if you just start small, you'll be okay!.
If you get cast in the chorus for a musical for instance, you don't have to be too nervous because you'll know you're not out there by yourself!.
also either a)invite family/friends to come see the show so they can re-assure you OR b) don't invite people you know because sometimes they have a tendency to make us more nervous!.!.!.

first, you have to get over the shyness and just do it!. in my first acting class, they made me do things that made me look stupid!. but its part of the training!. you have to be detached from yourself to take over a new character!. you'll get used to it!. check this site out!. it can help
